No second-round playoffs for the Lakers, who never managed to get their heads above water against the Timberwolves. But after this series, we’re still learning things, including the fact that LeBron James wasn’t 100%.

Admittedly, the Lakers’ failure to win the title this season doesn’t come as a total surprise. The fans obviously had high ambitions, as did the players, but the Luka Doncic trade didn’t do the roster any favors. There was a serious problem in the racket, and Rob Pelinka was never able to fill it. Especially with the failure of Mark Williams.

That’s why the coming summer will be so important for the Angelinos. We can obviously expect to see some recruiting in the coming months, notably to fill the gap left by Anthony Davis, by finding a pivot capable of grabbing rebounds and helping Doncic on the offensive end. But at this stage, good luck finding out his identity.

LeBron James hit in the playoffs

And clearly, the Purple and Gold haven’t had much luck in the postseason either. We learned that Austin Reaves had injured his foot, although some fans refuse to see this as an excuse for his poor play in the playoffs. And yet, even LeBron James has had problems of his own.

In addition to a number of injuries sustained during the regular season, James was also injured in Game 5 against the Wolves. A simple collision with an opponent and the King found himself with a real knee problem, requiring a lot of rest. It doesn’t look like the Lakers would have continued their adventure for much longer either way.

@mcten : “LeBron James suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee from his collision with Donte DiVincenzo in Wednesday’s Game 5, a league source told ESPN. The injury entails a 3-5 week recovery timeline.”

Not important today, since James has plenty of time to breathe and heal. But in the event of a win, it looks like the Chosen One wouldn’t have been able to continue his adventure in these playoffs for long. It also raises questions about his physical health, especially as he’ll have another year left next year. However, his future seems pretty clear according to Shams Charania.
