Sujet de toutes les discussions en marge de la Draft 2024, Bronny James a continué de faire parler de lui en NBA tout au long de sa campagne rookie. Certainement pas épargné par les critiques, il s’est livré sur cette délicate saison d’apprentissage.

Even before he set foot on an NBA floor, he could already boast of having made league history. Drafted by the Lakers in June 2024, Bronny James became the first player to count his father, a certain LeBron, among his teammates. In a recent interview with FOX Sports’ Melissa Rohlin, he opened up about this association and its benefits:

Bronny James: Being able to learn from him, both as a player and as a father, is a blessing. Our relationship is different. I try to take full advantage of it, because it’s a chance not many people get. It was a great experience for me, and I’m looking forward to learning even more from him, whether he continues his career or not.

Bronny James anything but indifferent to criticism?

Proud and grateful to be able to rub shoulders with his father on a daily basis in the NBA, Bronny has nonetheless suffered the flip side of the coin in recent months. His affiliation with LeBron has earned him a great deal of criticism, with some claiming that he has benefited from nepotism. Every one of his appearances on the league’s courts has therefore been scrutinized, a fact which, by his own admission, has clearly not left him unmoved:

Bronny James: I was really under pressure. It affected me a bit.

At just 20 years of age, it’s not easy to ignore criticism. Even when you’ve been used to having your performance scrutinized since you were a teenager. However, the young Angelino full-back has found a way to escape this invasive attention and has taken refuge… in work:

Bronny James: I kept my head down and worked. Work puts everything else aside. I love going to the gym, working out, talking to my coaches and doing video sessions. It all helps me get better every day. It’s also a distraction that erases everything else. So I’m going to keep doing it and see where it takes me. So far, it’s working pretty well.

Apparently satisfied with his first few months in the big leagues, Bronny has no intention of resting on his laurels. From now on, his objective is clear: to silence his detractors by making everyone agree on his legitimacy:

Bronny James: I want to show that I deserve my place. That’s all I’ve ever tried to prove.
