If he does leave the Bucks, there’s no doubt that Giannis Antetokounmpo will be a highly sought-after player. And while the Spurs are sometimes mentioned, the franchise will face stiff competition according to the latest rumors.

Eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, the Bucks will have to take stock of their future very soon. That’s why, according to Shams Charania, Giannis Antetokounmpo will be meeting his managers to discuss his future in Wisconsin. Will he be convinced to stay, or will he ask to leave if he’s not reassured? We’ll know more soon.

The fans in Milwaukee aren’t very confident, and it seems hard to blame them. Damian Lillard is going to be out for a very long time after rupturing his Achilles tendon, while the elimination in the first round and the trade of Kyle Kuzma for Khris Middleton don’t help matters at all. We imagine that the Greek Freak must be a little frustrated by all these events.

What’s next for the Bucks and Giannis?

If Giannis does hit the market, we can be sure that much of the NBA will be calling the Bucks to find out their price. According to several insiders, notably ESPN, the player’s move to the Spurs would make sense. They have the necessary assets and want to take a step forward in the West, but they’re obviously not the only ones.

The Rockets are also a team to watch, especially if they find themselves eliminated in the first round this Sunday night against the Warriors. However, for Brandon Robinson, the Pelicans also want to try something after several disappointing years. And Zion Williamson could be part of the deal to facilitate the process.

@LegionHoops : “The Pelicans are “keeping close tabs” on Giannis’ situation in Milwaukee, per Brandon Robinson. ‘I’m told Zion could very well be on the table in a potential Giannis deal if Milwaukee chooses to explore trade options.'”

Impossible to confirm any of this at the moment, especially as the famous meeting between Milwaukee and Giannis has yet to take place. But if the player asks to leave, the Spurs will have plenty of competition to try and get the number 34 back. Remember, though, that they’ll have to drop a mountain of assets to acquire one of the league’s best players, and at just 30 years of age.
