Having been prematurely eliminated from the title race, the Lakers are now likely to liven up the market during the off-season. Already the subject of numerous rumours, they have just been named as the most likely destination for a nugget who has also been eliminated.

If they can’t make a name for themselves through their performances anymore, they’ll have to make so with debates about their squad. The Lakers left the playoffs in the first round, soundly beaten by Minnesota in five short games. Proof that their roster had some major shortcomings which their opponents took advantage of. The Lakers’ managers are now aiming to make up for these shortcomings.

As Rob Pelinka recently confirmed, the Angelinos’ main project lies in the interior sector. A pivot should therefore arrive in Los Angeles in the next few weeks, even if his identity is still unknown. In any case, the bookmakers consider the Californian franchise to be the favorite to get one of them… but also to attract a talented young back.

Lakers in a good position to pick up a star in the making?

In addition to the Lakers, other teams saw their title dreams dashed in the first round of the playoffs. Among them, the Rockets, outplayed by Golden State and plunged by the poor performance of… Jalen Green. The young fullback missed his postseason and admitted as much himself. Enough for bookmakers to consider his departure from Houston and a hypothetical arrival in LA. NBACentral reports:

According to Bovada, the Lakers are the favorites to pick up Jalen Green should he not continue with the Rockets next season. Next in line are the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, OKC Thunder and Toronto Raptors.

It’s hard to say what criteria are used to draw up such a list.

Whatever the case, Green could bounce back in the City of Angels, according to American sports betting experts. However, despite his obvious potential, his profile is clearly not unanimously appreciated by Purple & Gold fans:

@ToxicLakers: We don’t need another (Austin) Reaves 😭

@DJILLSKILLS: It doesn’t make any sense. The Lakers would never get their hands on him. He has no Basketball IQ, he’s an AAU player.

@Sportsfanbobby: Knowing that the step was already too high for him in Houston, I don’t think he’ll be able to handle the pressure in LA

@KevinWagstaff3: The fit doesn’t work at all. We’re talking about a young player who doesn’t yet know his go-to moves and preferred shooting positions in LA? With two Hall of Famers who like to have the ball? Nope, impossible.

So everyone can make up their own mind about the credibility of this rumor.
