Evan Fournier’s decision to return to Europe and discover the EuroLeague has already been justified by the love shown to him by the Olympiakos fans. The French team’s full-back will have the opportunity to pay them back at the Final Four, which he is really looking forward to.
With a season’s hindsight, Evan Fournier’s return to Europe was an excellent idea. Having lost momentum in his last few years in the NBA and relegated to a reserve role, the French team’s shooting guard decided to get back some playing time and, above all, some fun. After eliminating Real Madrid to qualify for the EuroLeague Final Four, Evan Fournier went up to Olympiakos GM Nikos Lepeniotis and said, “Seriously, Nikos, we’ve got two games left. This is no time to celebrate.” He went straight to the locker room after that. Lepeniotis replied, “That tells you everything about Evan’s state of mind. He’s a perfect fit for this franchise. It’s great to have him with us, and I’m sure he’ll have many more great moments with us.
Evan Fournier only needed one season to establish himself as a darling in Greece, and it’s not over yet. The adventure could become a wonderful one if we succeed in the Final Four. The first stage will be against Monaco and legend Mike James.
