With his rookie season now over, Zaccharie Risacher can look back on it with relative satisfaction. That’s what he did recently on beIN Sports, looking back on the action that enabled him to discover a lethal NBA trick.

Admittedly, he didn’t succeed Victor Wembanyama as Rookie of the Year. Despite being snubbed by Stephon Castle, Zaccharie Risacher has no reason to be disappointed by his first season in the NBA. Surrounded by high expectations as a No.1 draft pick, the young French winger has lived up to them time and time again on the floor, and has shown himself to be an outstanding performer for Atlanta.

The devastating weapon Zaccharie Risacher was quick to use in the NBA

Risacher ended his rookie campaign on a high note, having scored several goals in the final weeks of the regular season. This, after needing a little time to adapt to the league. Somewhat inhibited during his first appearances with the Hawks, he nevertheless managed to show some nice things during this period. In particular, against the Cavaliers at the end of November, on this remarkable play:

With an excellent cut to the basket, the French international also took the liberty of blasting past Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley before calmly scoring his layup. In fact, he recently told NBA Extra that this sequence served as a wake-up call for him:

Zaccharie Risacher: I remember that action. It got a lot of people talking.

I make two pump fakes in a row and both opponents jump. Plus, I think we won that game against Cleveland (117-101). It was early in the season, but it was a moment that made me realize that in the NBA, everyone wants to counter and that it was easier to make fakes because everyone was going to jump everywhere.

So it only took about twenty games for Zacch to discover this NBA speciality and learn how to take advantage of it. He then added the feint shot to his offensive arsenal, and used it happily thereafter, often just as effectively. Perhaps this partly explains the success he enjoyed on this side of the court for the rest of the season.
