Still on the verge of ejection on Thursday night, Draymond Green was out of his depth. He took it out on the referees, despite requests from his team-mates, including Stephen Curry. Even Warriors fans couldn’t take it anymore. Green lynched by Warriors fans!
Draymond Green is definitely a divisive player, and has been for years, even for Warriors fans. There’s no denying his talent for defending and making an impact beyond the statistics, but as for the rest, there’s a lot to criticize in general. And we saw it again on Thursday night in Game 2 against the Timberwolves.
How did Green manage to finish the game without being ejected? You’ll have to ask the referees, who were strangely kind to the inside man, who got annoyed several times after picking up a technical foul. Other players would have taken a second one in the process, but not Golden State’s inside man.
Draymond Green unleashed by Warriors fans
Over the last few games, Green has reemerged as a speciality: exaggerating a gesture after a foul to hit an opponent. Jusuf Nurkic had already experienced this, as had a Rockets player in the first round of the playoffs. Naz Reid bore witness to this in Game 2, and it’s no longer a coincidence at this level. Even so, Green was very angry.
During a free throw at the start of the second quarter, Green again lashed out at a referee or an opposing player. Jimmy Butler tried to calm him down, as did Stephen Curry, who came off the bench to try and appease him. But to no avail. And like this tweet from a large fan account (192k), Green’s attitude is becoming increasingly annoying.
Terrible. Be a leader. https://t.co/RLFignNGk2

Unfortunately, Green has been showing his shortcomings for some time now, with the Jordan Poole story alone. It’s clear that the interior doesn’t know how to control himself and should have been ejected on Thursday night. He escaped punishment but not defeat. Steve Kerr is clearly going to have to intervene.
