Injured in the last game against the Wolves, LeBron James would probably not have been able to return in this first round of the playoffs, even if he had won. The King recognizes that this is new for him, and that’s a problem.

The Lakers’ season has been over for a few days now, and we know that LeBron James was injured in Game 5, the final game of the series. After seemingly only making contact with Donte DiVincenzo, the King actually hurt himself badly and now needs several weeks’ recuperation. In other words, the Angelinos’ campaign was well and truly over.

An injury like any other for James, at least in a way. As he explains in his recent podcast alongside Steve Nash, this is the first time he has suffered a knee problem of this kind. Number 23 has always avoided this type of problem in the past, but not this time. Fortunately, it won’t have too many immediate consequences.

LeBron James tells us more about his injury

The day after the elimination, James shared a little anecdote about himself, which says a lot about his current injury:

@LakersDailyCom : “LeBron James says he’s never had this type of injury and was told 4-6 weeks for recovery “When I woke up Thursday morning and tried to get out of bed, I was like, ‘Holy sh*t’.”

James is clearly discovering a new pain that he’ll have to deal with over the coming weeks. Needless to say, he is now rested and should resume normal activity over the summer to prepare for next season. Yes, barring any surprises, he’ll be back in September. It remains to be seen whether this will be with the Lakers or elsewhere.

LeBron James : “In my 22 year career, this is my first knee injury… as soon as the impact happened… my knee locked up, and I stayed on the ground for quite a minute to see if the knee would release a little bit. But I knew right then and there it was a pain that I hadn’t felt before.”

The good news is that James will be able to breathe without pressure over the next few weeks in order to fully recover. The bad news, for some, is that the player’s body is showing signs of weakness. Normal for someone who’ll be 41 at the end of the year. A detail that the Lakers will have to take into account.
