In search of a pivot, the Lakers will make their move over the summer, although their target remains unknown to date. But thanks to Jovan Buha, we’re beginning to learn more about the most credible lead to reinforce the team’s front line.
Outplayed by the Wolves, and Rudy Gobert in particular, the Lakers clearly have major problems in this area. Not a surprise after the Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis trades, especially since Rob Pelinka never found a replacement. The cancellation of the Mark Williams trade was therefore not without consequences.
So for this summer, we can’t say that the Angelinos have much choice. They’ll need to recruit someone in the paint, while a defender is also being mooted by Rob Pelinka. Fans are already dreaming of a Naz Reid, sparkling with the Wolves in this campaign, but he should be too expensive. In reality, Pelinka will have to look in another direction.
What target for the Lakers?
In order to avoid the salary cap limits during free agency, the Angelinos should probably opt for a trade to strengthen their squad. Reid seems out of reach in any case, while Myles Turner could be hard to get back given his successful playoffs. But there are other possibilities, and Jovan Buha thinks he’s on the right track.
While nothing is set in stone at this stage, Nic Claxton is the favorite to join the City of Angels and give the Lakers a boost. The pivot with 10.3 points and 7.4 rebounds is expected to relaunch his career elsewhere after a forgettable season with the Nets. An ideal target for the Californian franchise, it remains to be seen whether Internet users will be convinced.

So that doesn’t mean Claxton will soon be a Laker, but we imagine the franchise will quickly contact the Nets to see if a deal is possible. Pelinka knows that the trade is accessible, so it remains to be seen whether Brooklyn agrees and whether the consideration demanded won’t be too high.
Note that Claxton has just entered the first year of his new contract: 4 years and 97 million and will earn 25 million next season. Salaries will therefore have to be aligned in the event of a trade.
