While the Spurs are sometimes rumored to be recruiting Kevin Durant, let’s just say we’ll have to wait and see how things develop. For a certain betting site, it’s clear that San Antonio is a long way off.
In all the rumors since the Suns’ elimination from the regular season, Kevin Durant knows that the soap opera is going to last a while. Shams Charania already explains that the winger should find a new franchise by next season, but good luck finding out who. It’s going to be quite a battle to recapture the star’s talents.
A scenario where KD stays in Phoenix is also plausible for many, especially as the new GM is said to be a big fan of the player. The Wolves and Heat are very interested and will have to come up with an attractive offer, while the Spurs’ position is still unknown. There is interest in the Slim Reaper, but how much?
Kevin Durant at the Spurs? Unlikely for some
We know the Spurs want to get back to the top of the Western Conference and make the playoffs, but the franchise is far from it, all with uncertainties. Will Mitch Johnson shine on the bench? Will Victor Wembanyama miss the restart, and at what level? The franchise’s trajectory seems far from KD, ready to win a title.
That’s why, according to DKSports, the Spurs are pretty far away when it comes to estimating the chances of Durant landing in San Antonio. It’s not impossible that the Texans will try a real offensive, but we already know that the Suns will be very greedy. So right now, the Rockets or the Suns have the best chance of being his team in 2026.

A simple estimate, of course, but more and more insiders think it unlikely that Durant will end up in Texas. A Giannis Antetokounmpo, still in his prime and for a long time to come, would already make more sense to help Victor Wembanyama. Whatever happens, San Antonio must recruit if it hopes to compete in the postseason.
