It’s a tough second round for the Warriors, who have to manage their showdown without the presence of Stephen Curry for the time being. But there’s no excuse for Jimmy Butler, who’s expecting a reaction in Game 4.
Despite looking attractive for much of the game, the Warriors finally lost to the Wolves on Saturday evening. The franchise is now 1-2 in the second round of the playoffs and will need to respond for Game 4, again at home. Unfortunately for them, Stephen Curry is still a long way from making a comeback.
Victim of a pulled hamstring, Curry will be reassessed by the medical staff this Wednesday to take stock of his state of health. He won’t return immediately, but we’ll know a little more about the chances of his return against the Wolves. According to Shams Charania, the Dubs hope to have him back by Game 6 at the earliest. But that’s not certain.
Jimmy Butler raises his voice with the Warriors
It’s also possible that the Dubs will have to manage the rest of the series without Curry. Nobody wants to take a chance with Curry’s injury, especially as a hamstring problem can easily lead to a muscle relapse. No choice, then, for Steve Kerr’s men, who want to show a different face for Game 4 and win this game.
This is the case for Butler, who will be Golden State’s main asset in this new game. This one will be important, as a win for Minnesota would give them the break and several match points. So Curry or not, the former Heat player is expecting a reaction from his team-mates. He set the tone in front of reporters.
Jimmy Butler avant le Game 4 : “”It’s always get a win. If we don’t win, we damn sure don’t have to worry about getting Steph back this year. We gotta put our big boy pants on and go out there and compete at a high level.”
Otherwise, the Dubs will be in a very difficult situation. The loss of Curry is important, but that doesn’t mean the Warriors have to crumble, at least if this team is serious about winning the championship. At the very least, a win will give Curry more time to come back and turn things around.
