It was by signing with Golden State that Kevin Durant was able to win his NBA championships, notably facing LeBron James and his Cavaliers in the Finals. Nearly a decade later, the Slim Reaper has a clear message about them.
The least we can say is that Kevin Durant has left no one indifferent for about a decade. For his fans, the forward is one of, if not the, greatest scorer of all time and a true offensive monster overall. For his detractors (and there are many), however, the former Thunder player is incapable of leading a team to the title as the local franchise player. Which isn’t wrong…
Ultimately, it was only with the Warriors that the Slim Reaper was able to crown himself NBA champion, in 2017 and 2018. While his arrival in the Bay Area was heavily criticized, the 2014 MVP made the right choice by partnering with Stephen Curry & co., winning the back-to-back. All while delivering completely crazy performances during the double confrontation with LeBron James’s Cavaliers in the Finals:
Kevin Durant matched and got the best of LeBron James in those Warriors-Cavs Finals and became a target of the media machine and stat fans since then. They both play the same position so it meant a lot. His 2017 and 2018 Finals performance were epic display of skill. pic.twitter.com/PxLbAG9B28

Kevin Durant shows no mercy to Cavaliers fans
Absolutely unstoppable in both Finals, KD gave the entire city of Cleveland nightmares, especially during the 2017 Finals. It was an opportunity for the Dubs to get revenge on their rivals after the 2016 fiasco, when they lost after leading 3-1 in the series. And while Ohio fans still resent him for taking out their favorite franchise, he himself is instead enjoying it on X:
@sahmeer6 : Oh man @KDTrey5, f**k you bro for ruining what would have been a dynasty in Cleveland.
Kevin Durant : I rejoice every morning that it didn’t happen.
As usual, the league’s four-time leading scorer didn’t hold back. And yet, it’s easy to understand why he thinks this way…
After all, he managed to stem LBJ’s renewed dominance of the league, while justifying his arrival in Golden State in his first season. Averaging over 35 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists in the 2017 Finals series, all with indecent shooting percentages (55%, including 47% from long range and 93% on free throws), Durantula was simply the best basketball player on the planet at that time.
