Nikola Jokic has not been in great form in recent games, and is not enjoying his best period with the Nuggets. The franchise lost again on Sunday night, and the Serbian was the target of much criticism.
In the running for MVP this season, even if Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is potentially the favorite at this stage, it’s fortunate for Nikola Jokic that the playoffs aren’t taken into account. Despite a few good games, the Serbian has put in one poor performance after another in this series against his direct rival’s Thunder. And we saw it again on Sunday evening.
Despite the home crowd, Denver lost after 48 minutes with a final score of 92-87. A relatively close score between the two teams, but a two-all tie and a tough Game 5 to come in Oklahoma City. This game will be important, as the winner will have a first shot at the Western Conference Final.
Nikola Jokic much criticized for his games
There’s no doubt that Jokic will be eagerly awaited, as he finished his game with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Not bad for the Serb? Not really, especially considering he shot 7/22 from the field. His other statistics over the last three games? 33% shooting, 18.2% three-pointers, 15 assists and 16 turnovers.
Suffice it to say that this is not a good series from Jokic, who admitted as much himself in the previous match, going on to praise his team-mates. And despite this fairly honest speech, the Serb still hasn’t managed to raise his game in this second round. And this has earned him a fair amount of criticism from Internet users.

We don’t know if Jokic is hiding something, with some fans explaining that he’s been suffering from elbow pain for some time. In any case, it’s a worrying turn of events for the player, and at the worst moment of this campaign. The good news for him? The series isn’t over yet, and in the end, it’s all about the winners.
