More likely than ever to pack his bags this summer, Giannis Antetokounmpo is the subject of rumours that he is headed for… the Lakers. These rumours have reached the ears of Shams Charania, who has made his position clear on the subject.

For the time being, there’s no guarantee that he’ll change his tune. However, this hypothesis has never seemed more credible than at present. Once again eliminated in the first round of the playoffs with the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo is now considering a future away from the franchise. At least, that’s what Shams Charania has been reporting for the past few hours… before turning to very specific cases.

Shams Charania talks about the chances of Giannis joining the Lakers

Following the recent clarification about him, Antetokounmpo unsurprisingly finds himself at the heart of numerous rumors, some more far-fetched than others. Some fans imagine him joining the Lakers, for example, and are trying to imagine what package could make this incredible scenario a reality. In fact, Charania himself was asked about it on Monday’s Up & Adams show:

Kay Adams: Right now, I’m in Los Angeles and all I hear about here is Giannis in LA. Is the possibility of him coming to play with LeBron and Luka really credible?

Shams Charania: Even Giannis doesn’t know where he wants to go at the moment and what his future holds.

True to his position as a mere insider, Shams initially didn’t want to get too involved in the matter. For over a minute, he tried to sum up the Bucks’ sorry state of affairs, which would justify a potential departure. His interviewer’s ironic follow-up, however, forced him to take a real stand on the subject:

Kay Adams: So Giannis is going to end up with the Lakers. Thanks Shams (laughs).

Shams Charania: I don’t think that’s what I’d put all my money on if I were you, Kay. But do what you want!

As it stands, it seems unlikely that Giannis will arrive in LA this summer to don a Lakers jersey. On the Get Up show, Brian Windhorst made no mention of the latter when listing the most credible destinations for the Greek:

Brian Windhorst: The franchises most likely to do business with the Bucks are those with interesting players to trade, as well as picks from other teams. So if I were you, I’d keep an eye on San Antonio and Houston.
