As a basketball fanatic, Kevin Durant was in front of the lottery this Monday, even though his Suns don’t have a single interesting pick for the next few seasons. After the Mavericks’ big move, he made a mocking comment about the losers.
Usually, at this time of year, Kevin Durant is in the playoffs and fighting for a title, a feat accomplished twice during his time with the Warriors. Since then, unfortunately for him and his many fans, the record has been a little more complicated. This season, for example, he didn’t even get his Suns into the top 10 of the Western Conference.
Where some would have gone on vacation and not paid the slightest attention to league news, KD is still on top of all the little things. It has to be said that he loves the orange ball more than anything else in the world, and it’s out of the question for him to turn away from it. This Monday, he was in front of his TV to follow the famous draft lottery.
Kevin Durant amused by the NBA lottery
With the Suns out of the running for a while, thanks to his trade and that of Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant knew he wouldn’t hear his franchise’s name called. That’s not to say he wasn’t entertained by the result, as the Mavericks inherited the first pick when they only had a 1.8% chance. The legendary No.35 was quick to respond.
Tanking must be really stressful on a organization.

A few years ago, because tanking was too widespread in the league for Adam Silver’s taste, the NBA completely changed the lottery. Today, the teams with the worst records aren’t necessarily rewarded, as evidenced this Monday. The Jazz, Wizards and Hornets, the three franchises most likely to emerge with the 1st pick, are out of the top 3.
We can’t imagine the pain of the managers and fans, who suffered from one end of the season to the other, only to miss out on the joy of picking up a generational talent. And the most frustrating thing for them, which is why some are calling for the lottery to be stopped altogether, is that the smaller markets no longer have any real means of rebuilding, and free agents don’t like them.
