Giannis Antetokounmpo will be one of the most sought-after players on the transfer market this offseason. But how far will you have to go to land the superstar? Kevin Durant has given his opinion on the package one should give up for the Greek.
2024-25 has changed a lot of things for NBA superstars. With many franchises having disappointed despite their title ambitions (Suns, Sixers, Bucks, etc.), their superstars have decided that it might be time to write a new chapter in their careers elsewhere. On the Suns side, for example, Kevin Durant is preparing to pack his bags, especially since his management already tried to trade him a few months ago.
And then, of course, there’s the Giannis Antetokounmpo situation at the Bucks. For the third consecutive time, the Wisconsin franchise failed to survive the first round of the playoffs, and to make matters worse, Damian Lillard tore his Achilles tendon. He’s therefore unlikely to play for the entire upcoming season, further reducing Milwaukee’s chances of contending for the 2025-26 title. That’s starting to add up to a lot…

Between that and the Bucks’ average but expensive roster, it’s unclear whether Giannis’ ambitions can be fulfilled there, and he’s reportedly exploring other avenues this summer. Unsurprisingly, almost the entire league is in the running to secure his services… but Milwaukee’s management still needs to be convinced to give him up, and that will require parting with an absolutely extraordinary counterpart.
For his part, Kevin Durant is following the case closely and even has a pretty clear idea of what it would take to convince the Bucks to say goodbye to the best player in their history. Asked by a fan about X, the two-time champion set the tone for everyone… and the least we can say is that the bill is steep.

That’s a colossal package… but this time, KD might just be right on the money.
After all, Giannis remains a two-time MVP, in addition to being Defensive Player of the Year, and most importantly, NBA champion and Finals MVP in 2021. He knows how to lead a team to the title, and this year again, he averaged over 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. It’s no surprise, then, that the Bucks will bleed anyone dry who tries to deprive them of such a gem. It remains to be seen who will make that choice.
