Dominique Malonga already provoked by a league star: “I’ll do that to her ”Dominique Malonga wasn’t selected with the first pick of the latest WNBA draft, yet she’s perhaps the most eagerly awaited rookie this season. The proof: she’s already been provoked by a big star.

As the end of the NBA season draws nearer, with the conference finals due to kick off soon, lovers of the orange ball have plenty to look forward to over the summer. While we await the men’s European Championship at the end of August, next month will see the women’s version, followed by the WNBA season.

Unfortunately, even though the FFBB has authorized its stars to take part in both competitions, few of them are likely to interrupt their season on the other side of the Atlantic. Gabby Williams and Carla Leite have already written it off, and they won’t be the only ones. Dominique Malonga, selected second in the last draft, will remain in Seattle, where she is already shining:

A player is already provoking Dominique Malonga

As soon as she arrived in Washington State, Dominique Malonga was put at the heart of her team’s system. She made a positive impression in this friendly against Los Angeles, showing off her many qualities. She’s quick, deft near the basket and behind the arc, which will pose problems for her opponents. On the other hand, she hasn’t yet dunked, even though there was no lack of desire to do so. A few hours before this duel, she had been provoked by Sparks star Rickea Jackson.

I want to make it clear: I’m not afraid of anyone in the league. I’m afraid of getting dunked on, of the action. But for people to say I’m scared of this girl, that’s funny. To me, it’s a big joke. But stop acting like I’m fragile. I’m going to get in your face and try to thwart you. The only one I want on the poster is Sydney Colson.

Rickea Jackson says it with aplomb: she’s not afraid of Dominique Malonga, she just doesn’t want to be the first player in history to get posted. That’s not to say that she won’t be defending herself, but that she intends to take on the Frenchwoman in the hope of upsetting her. One thing’s for sure: it promises to be an exciting encounter.
