Although he exited the playoffs earlier than he would have liked, Stephen Curry can already be satisfied with his participation. This is thanks in part to the recruitment of Jimmy Butler, to which he returned before going on vacation.

Absent from the proceedings for the majority of the series against Minnesota, he was, on the other hand, very much present in front of reporters this Thursday. Stephen Curry concluded his season with a final press conference, having been unable to avoid the Warriors’ elimination in the conference semi-finals due to a hamstring injury. A scenario that unsurprisingly leaves him with a very bitter taste in his mouth:

Stephen Curry: It’s tough. It was a first for me. Every season ends in a different way. Four ended very well for us and on the others, we gave everything on the court, to no avail. But sitting on the bench was weird. I would have liked to have been able to do something and change the course of destiny, but I guess that wasn’t part of the script this year.

Inevitably frustrated by his absence, which was so damaging for Golden State, Curry can nonetheless draw positives from the franchise’s last few weeks. In fact, he made sure to point out the efforts made, if only to make the playoffs:

Stephen Curry: We’ve fought really hard since February to give ourselves a chance. That’s all we wanted: to finish the season strong and make the playoffs.

We also won our first-round series, so we’ve got a lot to be proud of, knowing where we’ve come from. That’s for sure.

Initially off to a bad start in the postseason race, the Chef can thank one man who drastically changed the face of the Dubs following the trade deadline: Jimmy Butler. This, despite his arrival being surrounded by a certain amount of skepticism:

Stephen Curry: There was a lot of doubt around this trade, people didn’t know if it was the right thing to do. But from the first game in Chicago to the one on Wednesday, it was a seemless fit. We complement each other really well, and he really made us believe. (…) The deal was a success and now we have to build on it.

As you can see, Steph is hoping to continue his journey in the Bay Area alongside Butler, but also his two long-time acolytes:

Stephen Curry: Whether it’s me, Draymond (Green), Steve (Kerr) or Jimmy, all our contracts run for another two years. And we want this epic together to last as long as possible.
