The Warriors walked out in the second round of the playoffs, with many questions about the future of the franchise now hanging over their heads. Because after this defeat, we’re heading straight for at least one major trade over the summer.

For Warriors fans, there will be a lot of “what ifs” when it comes to these 2025 playoffs. It goes without saying that Stephen Curry’s injury changed the game in this series against the Timberwolves. Steve Kerr’s men had actually won the first game before collapsing due to the absence of the Chief. Frustrating.

But Minnesota wasn’t there to do any favors, least of all Anthony Edwards, determined to win his first title with the Wolves and alongside Rudy Gobert. For the Dubs, it’s a different story, with an aging roster but ambitions intact for the coming seasons, with Curry looking forward to playing with Jimmy Butler again.

Departure confirmed for the Warriors?

And yet, after yet another disappointment and a few behind-the-scenes stories, we can expect some changes at Golden State in the coming months. One player, Jonathan Kuminga, who has been let go by Steve Kerr and some of his fans, already seems to be on his way out. His trade has no doubt been finalized after a complicated season.

Kuminga has often been benched with the Warriors in this campaign, not to mention Kerr’s behind-the-scenes comments. His departure is undoubtedly the best thing to let him regain his confidence and exploit his potential. According to Anthony Slater, the franchise should begin negotiations fairly soon.

@LegionHoops : “Per Anthony Slater, Jonathan Kuminga and the Warriors are expected to “explore sign-and-trade” scenarios”

The idea for the Dubs would be not to lose the player without any consideration in return, which would be quite logical in the end. Kuminga remains someone with value on the market, and let’s not forget that he will be a free agent this summer. The Warriors are hoping to get something in return, which will be important for a franchise that wants to continue believing in its chances of winning the championship. But this decision won’t necessarily be unanimous, as many appreciate Kuminga’s potential in this league.
