Often singled out across the league, Russell Westbrook faced yet another round of accusations during the playoffs. But hearing the Brodie called an immature teammate sent one of his former teammates into a frenzy, and he fiercely defended him.
It’s difficult to take a position on Russell Westbrook, as he divides opinion across the NBA. On the one hand, the point guard is one of the most incredible athletes ever to grace the league, arguably the most explosive player in the history of his position. His four seasons averaging a triple-double further cement him as a basketball legend, with few having as much of a volume on the field as he has.
But on the other hand, we’re also talking about a player who never managed to lead his team far in the playoffs when he was alone at the helm, partly also because he never knew how to adapt when the situation required it. Since the fiasco of his time with the Lakers, he has also regularly been the target of media criticism, which has highlighted his problematic attitude in the locker room, and not just in Los Angeles.
Austin Rivers defends Russell Westbrook against accusations
A member of the Nuggets for nearly a year, Brodie was singled out again during the playoffs, with an anonymous teammate calling him immature. However, others quickly spoke up to defend him, including Aaron Gordon, who had just gotten into an argument with Westbrook. Austin Rivers, who had been the 2017 MVP’s playing partner on the Rockets, did the same, exploding on his social media.
Hey listen man, y’all killing me with this anonymous sh*t. Seriously, no more of that. I don’t want any more people talking about they heard such and such about a player due to an anonymous source, or I heard this guy wants out, or he wants to be traded; he wants to be signed here; he’s unhappy, or I heard that guy’s not a pleasure to work around, says an anonymous source.
Enough of that anonymous s*t. If you’re gonna speak on a player’s character, if y’all gonna come out here and talk about a player’s personal life and certain things about them, either say it with your chest and say that you feel this way, or if you’re gonna quote somebody else, say their damn name. I’m tired of the anonymous sh*t.
Y’all over here talking about Russell Westbrook is immature, says an anonymous teammate of his own. Then say the teammate then, who said that bullsh*t? It’s so silly man, speak on it. Otherwise, I don’t really want to hear it; I played with Russell. The last thing I would ever describe him as, as a teammate, is immature. This guy’s like the epitome of what a professional looks like, how he approaches his craft, how hard he works, how much energy and pride and passion he plays with every game.
