In several rumors, Zion Williamson’s future is still uncertain with the Pelicans. But as a major insider reveals, a rebound has probably taken place internally, and the lottery can confirm it.

Still in last place in the Western Conference, the Pelicans have had a very difficult season with their fans. One bad choice after another behind the scenes, to the point where the owners have been cleaning house recently in an attempt to give the team a boost. We could therefore see some changes in Louisiana.

And there’s a need for it. It’s been a long time since the franchise has been able to do so, and the Zion Williamson soap opera is the talk of the town. The Duke product’s talent is undeniable in the NBA, but he’s also been plagued by injuries since his arrival a few years ago. For more and more fans, a trade is the best solution.

Zion Williamson on the Pelicans’ way out?

The year 2026 could be Zion’s last chance to shine for the Pelicans. Fans are obviously expecting victories in the lot, but also a full campaign from the player and without major injury if possible. If not, a decision will probably have to be made concerning him.

However, things may have changed behind the scenes with the recent changes we’ve been talking about. Joe Dumars now leads the way and is said to be a big Zion fan. As proof, the player made a public appearance at the recent lottery to support the Pelicans. Insider Marc Stein confirms that his presence was no coincidence.

Marc Stein : “Sources say that the lottery assignment was indeed intended to convey the message that New Orleans’ new front office, now headed by Louisiana native Joe Dumars, wants to try again to make things work with Williamson as the team’s centerpiece.”

Despite doubts, injuries and increasingly insistent rumors, it looks like the Pelicans have decided to reaffirm their confidence in Zion Williamson. This doesn’t mean he won’t be traded next year, but it’s a strong gesture for the Duke alumnus. Let’s hope for his sake that things evolve positively in 2026.
