NBA – The Bucks’ risky strategy with Giannis revealed!

The Bucks may well agree to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer, but the front office reportedly has a plan to try and retain him. If this theory is confirmed this off-season, it’s bound to annoy a few people.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future may be decided this week. He will meet with his managers to discuss his future, perhaps with a trade request at the end. Nothing is confirmed at this stage, especially as Milwaukee has every intention of convincing the player to stay, no matter what.

And yet, if Giannis really wants to win another championship, Milwaukee may not be the right place to do it today. The franchise has weakened, notably with the trade of Khris Middleton for Kyle Kuzma, and Damian Lillard’s injury is redistributing the cards. That’s why his departure isn’t totally crazy for fans.

Bucks ready to do anything to keep Giannis?

If Giannis does ask to leave, we imagine the Bucks will accede to his request, but that doesn’t mean they’ll make negotiations any easier. Milwaukee would have to ask for a lot of assets to validate such a trade, perhaps to the point of discouraging Giannis from leaving? Not impossible, according to Sam Amick.

In his recent article, Amick threw out some interesting information on Milwaukee’s tactics. Their goal? Disgust the competition and potentially Giannis, so that he stays in Wisconsin a little longer.

Sam Amick : “Jon is not going to just try to be on good terms with Giannis—he’s trying to do right by the Bucks.”

“And that means that if every scenario in play leaves the other team so gutted that Giannis might not actually be in that much better of a situation, then maybe that’s where he looks at the room and says, ‘All right, let me stay put.’”

Disgust Giannis from the trade? We don’t know if the Bucks can pull it off, but they’re going to give it a shot. We know how important the player is to the franchise on the floor, but it’s also the case off it with his impact on marketing or the city. The player has been warned: leaving Milwaukee won’t be easy.
