An undisputed Atlanta superstar for years, Trae Young has been the subject of departure rumors for a while now. While the Spurs trail has gone up in smoke, another trade has been suggested to his franchise as a way to turn the page.

2024-25 was a year like any other for the Hawks. A mediocre regular season, but enough to qualify for the Eastern Conference Play-In, followed by a defeat just outside the playoffs: nothing much changed in Georgia. The kind of stagnation that isn’t the most productive for an NBA franchise, unfortunately…

It’s all the more frustrating given that Atlanta has some very interesting players. Jalen Johnson was on track to make the All-Star Game before getting injured in January, while Zaccharie Risacher has been continuously improving during his rookie season. And of course, there is Trae Young, who finished as the league’s top passer for the first time in his career with 11.6 assists per game.

The point guard has been a local superstar since his draft in 2018, but aside from a conference final appearance in 2021, the Hawks have never accomplished anything with him. Many therefore believe he could soon be on his way, and a trade to the Spurs was long considered a possibility, before the latter finally turned to the Kings and De’Aaron Fox to accompany Victor Wembanyama.

Trae Young sent to the Magic this summer?

However, Ice Trae’s value on the market remains high, and his franchise can hope to get a nice return for him. That’s why the Fadeaway World website looked for the best possible trade for the former Oklahoma alumni and ended up choosing Orlando, for a (very) big package:

  • Orlando Magic Receive: Trae Young
  • Atlanta Hawks Receive: Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Isaac, 2025 No. 16 Overall Pick, 2027 First-Round Pick (ORL), 2027 Second-Round Pick (BOS), 2030 Second-Round Pick (MIL)

Such a move would completely change the face of Atlanta, but it would also have advantages.

Indeed, it’s no secret that the Hawks are particularly fragile on defense. Suggs and Isaac would immediately contribute tremendously in this area, and as a bonus, the No. 16 pick in this draft could either provide them with an interesting player or serve as a counterpart in another trade. And on Orlando’s side, just imagine Trae Young feeding the ball to the likes of Paolo Banchero or Franz Wagner…
