Minnesota got off to a very poor start to its conference finals against Oklahoma City, losing heavily to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and co. Which makes Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle’s postgame behavior all the more bizarre…

By returning to the conference finals, the Timberwolves were keen to erase the sad memory of 2023-24. Rudy Gobert and his teammates had been destroyed by the Mavericks on the verge of the NBA Finals back then and it goes without saying that after such a humiliation, they had no intention of reliving that against the Thunder this year.

Unfortunately, Chris Finch’s men couldn’t really put their money where their mouth was, as Game 1 went a very one-sided way… and not in their favor. Instead, OKC won by a 26-point margin (114-88) and sent a very clear message to the Wolves: if they want to beat them, they’ll have to do much better than that.

Edwards and Randle all smiles after the brutal loss to OKC

Often criticized by fans for poor performances, Rudy Gobert took some flak after his team’s pitiful performance. But his co-stars didn’t fare any better tonight, especially Anthony Edwards, who finished the final quarter without a single point scored. This didn’t stop him from having fun with Julius Randle at a press conference:

It’s impossible to know what made them laugh so much about the box score of the game, but we imagine it certainly wasn’t the final result or their own statistics, as Randle was the only one to be clean on offense (28 points on 9/13 shooting). Fans, however, have their little theories on the subject and have shared them:

@lamelo_better : 100% pointed at sga’s free throws lmao

@HokageSavant : Laughing at his team worst -23 +/-

@hoodie0low : Definitely laughing at Shai free throws
