Another bad night for the Timberwolves, beaten by the Thunder on Thursday evening for the second time in a row. And Rudy Gobert didn’t exactly shine in this game, earning him a fair amount of mockery on the web.

The situation is becoming complex for the Timberwolves, who have just lost to the Thunder in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. The next two games will take place in Minnesota, and that’s just as well, because Chris Finch’s men clearly need a boost to get things going again.

Anthony Edwards’ 32 points weren’t enough to make the difference, as he was a little isolated in this game. Julius Randle missed out with 6 points at 2/11 shooting, while Rudy Gobert had no impact offensively. He compiled 5 points, 9 rebounds and that’s it, in 30 minutes of play. As you’d expect, he wasn’t the unanimous choice.

Rudy Gobert still criticized for his performance

It has to be said that fans expect a lot more from a player earning over 40 million a year. But Gobert struggles to make a real impact, with a total absence from the offensive game, and a defense that can’t really limit Oklahoma City to the finish line. So, inevitably, criticism is levelled at the Frenchman.

One big NBA account, followed by almost 2 million people, simply listed Gobert’s performances so far:

@TheDunkCentral : “Rudy Gobert in this Western Conference final, 5 points, -9 differential. 2 points, -2 differential.”

Needless to say, there were plenty of responses, and they certainly weren’t in defense of Gobert, far from his best at the moment.

A lot of criticism, even from Warriors fans.

@warriorsworld : “Rudy Gobert is so useless. Quadruple DPOY without the slightest impact.”

@JWeinbachNBA : “Rudy Gobert has 7 points combined for the first two games of this Western Conference final. 5 first rounds.”

So, of course, we’ll only remember the winner at the end. Gobert therefore has plenty of time to react and make a real impact on Minnesota’s games. Whatever happens, a reaction is expected in Game 3 to avoid finding ourselves back against the wall. Otherwise, good luck winning 4 in a row against this Thunder team.
