Victor Wembanyama was expected to be an outstanding player, and in just two seasons he has proved that he is. In fact, he’s just been creating a buzz on social networks thanks to his attacking qualities. In his absence, fans have forgotten his immense talent.
Two years ago, both the NBA and the Spurs were eagerly anticipating the arrival of French prodigy Victor Wembanyama. A hero for the Metropolitans, with an MVP award, Defender of the Year and an appearance in the Betclic Elite finals, the 2.24m giant was set to revolutionize the league and establish himself as the best young player since LeBron James.
As crazy as it sounds with this level of expectation, Wemby answered the call and showed fans that he’s not just another player. Despite his size, his game is reminiscent of that of Kevin Durant. Comfortable close to the rim, he can also play mid-range and behind the arc with formidable efficiency. No one can get in his way, and he takes advantage of it.
Victor Wembanyama honored on social networks
In fact, his attacking qualities are the reason why he was in the spotlight on social networks this weekend. He was the star of a montage by Brett Usher, the Internet user who makes compilations of players’ talents and striking tendencies. In just a few hours, these 5 minutes of fun were viewed over a million times.

The question has been asked all season long, and it’s even more valid in the face of this compendium: have we ever seen a player with such qualities? Without forcing it, Victor Wembanyama is capable of playing through a defense and finishing at the basket, or dribbling like a backcourt player to send a 3-point bomb. In the comments, reactions were fairly uniform.
@ryanpropz : Was curious if he could live up to expectations. He’s exceeded them in this 2 years. Can’t wait to see what he becomes
@luhjayceho : need to see him paired with ah hali/shai level guard one day
@yungsadboyz : everytime i go a little while without watching him play i forget how absurd it is that he’s this good on both ends at his size and quickness
