Unable to help the Timberwolves to victory, Rudy Gobert made a resounding impact in Game 4 against the Thunder. Doris Burke got carried away with one of his highlights… a little too much for some people’s taste.
For many, this was the decisive game in the series between the Thunder and Timberwolves. Trailing 2-1, the Timberwolves had every reason to win at home, or risk returning to Oklahoma City with an almost unassailable deficit. The stakes were therefore simple for them on paper this Monday, when Game 4 of this confrontation took place.
Unfortunately for Chris Finch’s men, their objective of victory was not achieved. Trailing for the majority of the game, they ended up losing (126-128) and find themselves more than ever on the brink of elimination from the playoffs. This despite the efforts of Rudy Gobert, author of 13 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists, as well as a highlight that made the rounds on social networks.

Determined to leave the Target Center with a win in his pocket in recent hours, Gobert didn’t go for half-measures. Just ask Isaiah Hartenstein, the victim of a violent poster from the French pivot during the third quarter of this match. Doris Burke, who was only a few meters away from the action, didn’t hide her enthusiasm when she witnessed it, and gave the following reaction to ESPN:
Doris Burke: I don’t know much about history, but I do know that the French don’t like Germans much and vice versa. And Rudy said, “Bonjour Monsieur Hartenstein, have a taste of that left-handed dunk!”
An obvious reference to the two world wars that pitted France against Germany in the last century.
Delivered in a humorous way by the famous American journalist, these words received a very mixed reception on the web. While some Internet users were amused, others were scathingly critical:
