No new miracle for the Timberwolves, who nevertheless delivered a solid collective performance against the Thunder on Monday evening. Rudy Gobert once again provided the essentials, even if it wasn’t enough.

After a thrashing in Game 3 to regain their confidence in front of their home crowd, the Timberwolves failed to confirm this Monday night in Game 4. Oklahoma City woke up and came out on top in a very tense and indecisive final game, with a final score of 128-126. And Minnesota will no doubt have a few regrets.

So essential in the series against the Warriors, Julius Randle is much less in evidence against OKC at the moment. He’s been criticized one after the other, and failed to respond in Game 4 with 5 points in total, for an ugly 1-7 shooting record. He didn’t score once in the second half, so it’s hard for the Wolves to win in these conditions.

Wolves need to wake up

Trailing 1-3, Rudy Gobert and Co. now have no choice but to win 3 in a row to beat the Thunder and reach the NBA Finals. It’s still possible, but given the current trend, Chris Finch will have to find the right words. Perhaps he’ll be able to count on a super Gobert, who was very interesting on Monday.

Like this impressive poster, Gobert was good in this game, compiling 13 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. An important contribution, especially on defense, although the victory was not there at the end.

@bluelemxnade : “Heroic 2nd half from Gobert man you can’t ask for anything more. He got possessed by a younger version of himself for those 24 minutes.”

It didn’t matter in the end, as the Wolves ultimately lost, and that’s undoubtedly the most frustrating thing for the Frenchman. A collective awakening is now needed to avoid another disappointment, and possible trades over the summer from the front office. The next game, in Oklahoma City, will be a very dangerous one.
