The Lakers have some choices to make this summer, with many questions surrounding the future of certain players. For some fans, and given the recent playoffs, several members of the roster absolutely must go.

Without a truly talented pivot against the Wolves, the Lakers took a beating in the playoffs. But that’s certainly not the only reason behind their elimination, with shortcomings on defense and in terms of effort. Luka Doncic was often criticized for his attitude on the floor, something he will have to work on in the coming months.

Nevertheless, it’s clear that Rob Pelinka is going to have to look into a real post 5 for this summer to strengthen the racket. This will be a good start for the organization, which could also make other trades to boost its squad. Rui Hachimura and Jarred Vanderbilt are likely to leave, as is Dalton Knecht.

What trade for the Lakers over the summer?

Knowing that Knecht has been technically traded for the first time, it’s hard to believe that he’ll still be around for training camp in September. His departure is the most likely scenario at this stage, but it’s unclear whether the Angelinos will find the right quid pro quo. For some fans, there are other priorities in terms of departures.

For there were other disappointments in these playoffs. Vanderbilt has significant limitations on offense, Maxi Kleber hasn’t returned from injury in time, while Gabe Vincent continues to be a point guard debate. So by this count, all three men need to go in order to give the franchise a better chance.

@LALInsiders : “Gabe Vincent (11 millions), Maxi Kleber (11 millions), Jarred Vanderbilt (10,7 millions), Here is $33M that didn’t provide anything for the Lakers in the playoffs. Let’s get more value out of role player contracts before we blame LeBron for “making team building impossible” with his contract.”

If LeBron James’ salary is going to be a problem, as he’ll pass the 52 million mark, there are other emoluments that annoy fans. The Lakers can undoubtedly find a better bench, but a trade will be necessary. Rob Pelinka had been inspired with the arrival of Dorian Finney-Smith, so perhaps he’ll have an idea again.
