Highly ambitious for the next few years, the Spurs are looking for the best way to return to the top of the Western Conference. And while the franchise has the second pick in the upcoming draft, this asset is highly coveted within the league.
Despite the presence of Stephon Castle and De’Aaron Fox at the point, the Spurs are expected to select Dylan Harper in June at the draft. He’s not the most obvious fit in the world, but he’s the best player in this draft after Cooper Flagg for the specialists. So for San Antonio, there’s no question of letting this golden opportunity slip away.
But Castle, Fox and Harper are similar players on paper. Backs capable of creating the game but in need of the ball and without an extremely threatening three-point shot. The Texans hope to make it work, despite doubts, or they could always decide to trade this second draft pick for other assets.
