There’s every reason to believe that Kevin Durant will be leaving the Suns in the next few weeks. And while his future destination is the talk of the town, the Wolves are hoping to pull it off. Expect a new offensive.
We still don’t know how, or where, but Kevin Durant’s departure is a foregone conclusion for many insiders. The Suns need to offload his salary, and given his calamitous season in Arizona, it’s probably best to start afresh. We should therefore know more before the June draft, set for the 25th.
But if this soap opera has been getting a little less buzz lately, it’s because the league is awaiting the outcome for Giannis Antetokounmpo. Depending on his availability, franchises could choose to go for him or KD, who is more accessible than the Greek Freak and less expensive. But we also know that the Suns will want to pick up some interesting assets.
Wolves aggressive after playoff exit
Spurs and Rockets are often mentioned to get KD, but be careful not to forget the new favorite in the conversation: the Timberwolves. After another failed playoff run, the franchise needs another dominant player to pair with Anthony Edwards. And it just so happens that Minnesota already tried to recruit KD at the deadline in February.
All indications are that the Wolves will launch a new offensive on Durant over the summer. Edwards clearly needs help in his bid for the title, and we know the GM isn’t afraid to do what’s necessary. So, according to betting site DraftKings, Minnesota is the odds-on favorite to pull off this nice coup on the market.
@esidery : “The Timberwolves are now the betting favorites to acquire Kevin Durant, if the Suns trade him this summer, per DraftKings. Minnesota: +250 Rockets: +300 Mavericks: +750 Spurs: +900 Heat: +900”
An interesting indication, and one that fits in with the latest rumours in the dossier. The Wolves have a confirmed interest in the player, and given their failure, they’re only thinking of improving their squad today. An offensive is undoubtedly planned for the Slim Reaper, even if we have to wait for the possible departure of Giannis Antetokounmpo… and confirmation that the Suns are going to give up their player.
