Beaten by the Pacers, something is potentially set to change at the Knicks in the coming weeks. If the coach is safe, a change in the roster is already taking shape in the Big Apple.
Dominated by the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Knicks once again failed in their quest for a championship. A disappointment for the fans, and decisions expected in the coming months to revive the machine. First trend? Tom Thibodeau is taking no chances, despite some highly questionable decisions.
According to the latest reports, the coach enjoys the confidence of Jalen Brunson, but above all of the front office. He should therefore remain in place for another campaign, while we can expect a few changes to the roster. According to some journalists, Karl-Anthony Towns is a divisive figure internally, not least because of his defense.
Changes in sight for the Knicks?
Towns has never been a great defender, and it showed in this series, to the point where some Knicks players feel that KAT needs to improve in this area. We can also expect some changes off the bench to kick-start the whole thing, even if Shams Charania didn’t name any names in his last update.
However, and according to the country’s biggest insider, we can expect some small changes from the Knicks. This defeat will leave its mark, and fans want to see an aggressive front office, albeit a more cautious one when it comes to making moves. The 5 rounds dropped for Mikal Bridges hurt a lot, especially given the final result.
Shams Charania : “I’m told the Knicks have internal meetings this week to evaluate everything from the roster, different changes they could make around everything, but especially the roster… Whether it’s a landmark player that you could bring in there or definitely depth on that bench.”
With Thibodeau known for limiting his rotation and wearing out his players, perhaps a change of strategy wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world. Whatever happens, the Knicks are going to have to change something when we see their failure in the Eastern Conference. And now is the time, with an interesting squad still lacking that little something extra.
