It’s going to be a busy summer for Zaccharie Risacher, who is looking forward to his first major international campaign with the French national team. Having had a very interesting season with the Hawks – he came second in the race for Rookie of the Year – he could make a significant contribution to Frédéric Fauthoux’s squad. It remains to be seen whether his former coach at JL Bourg will have confidence in him.

In any case, the No.1 player in the 2024 Draft is already in France, on vacation but also back in training. He may have pleased Hawks fans on his debut, and he may be seen as an important part of the franchise’s future, but he’s going to have to show real progress next season if Atlanta are to regain a prime position in the Eastern Conference.

Zaccharie Risacher on his return to France

What better way to do this than to work in a setting he knows, with people who know how to take him up a notch? Invited to appear on Canal+ over the past few days, Zaccharie Risacher talked about his re-acclimatization to life in France, and the progress he’s made since the day he returned to the country.

I’ve been in France for a month and a half now, and things are going pretty well. I’ve got back into my routine and started training again 3 or 4 weeks ago. Frankly, I’m really enjoying life in France. I’m in a phase of individual preparation: I’m working physically, but also on the technical side. I’m trying to prepare as well as possible for the Euro.

Zaccharie Risacher’s life in the USA is pretty good, as he spends most nights in luxury hotels and is coming off a season with a salary of over $10 million. But it seems that his return to France has opened his eyes to the fact that he really enjoys being at home with his loved ones. An attachment that should strengthen his desire to represent Les Bleus every summer.

And just as well, in today’s basketball world, where versatility is a must, Victor Wembanyama’s outside shooting ability, defensive qualities and height will be key assets. Add Bilal Coulibaly and Alexandre Sarr, and the French team could develop one of the most terrifying defenses in FIBA basketball history.
