Barring a turn of events, Kevin Durant will have a new team this June. The Suns are looking to get rid of him, and the Spurs are still in the running. The outcome is expected shortly.

After a completely unsuccessful season, with no playoffs at the end, the Suns are looking to clean up their squad. They’ve already changed coaches and GMs, while it’s the players who will now be targeted by management. While Devin Booker is safe, no one else on the roster is so far.

Bradley Beal is likely to be traded or even cut after a poor season, according to some journalists, while Kevin Durant is expected to be traded in June. A move before the draft is expected, potentially allowing the Suns to pick up at least one first-round pick. But this detail has yet to be determined.

The Kevin Durant trade very close?

What is certain according to journalist John Gambadoro, close to the Suns, is that the trade is coming. The front office is active behind the scenes to find him a new destination, with the Rockets and Spurs mentioned. Note that Houston has draft rounds belonging to Phoenix, so we imagine this is their priority on the market. But there’s no guarantee they’ll accept.

@TheHoopCentral : “Per John Gambadoro, The Phoenix Suns are aggressively trying to trade Kevin Durant, and he is expected to be moved by the NBA Draft.”

The NBA draft could be in for one hell of a shake-up, to the point where the Spurs are still unsure whether they’ll get Dylan Harper back at number two. Because if not Durant, maybe San Antonio will snap up Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to Gambadoro, the Texans are keen to recruit a quality winger to improve their squad. It could be Durant, Giannis or a lesser-known player to keep their assets for the future. Whatever happens, fans can prepare themselves for a move this summer.

@esidery : “Keep an eye on the Spurs, as they could be one of Kevin Durant’s top preferred trade destinations, per John Gambadoro. San Antonio can put together an appealing offer that satisfies the Suns’ desires of young prospects and draft capital in a Durant deal.”
