Determined to win the championship, the Warriors believe they have a chance and will therefore be recruiting this summer. A pivot is expected and a new lead is emerging for the organization this off-season.
Despite the loss to the Wolves, the Warriors have been relativising ever since, convinced that the series could have been different without Stephen Curry’s injury. We don’t know if Golden State could have won with him, but it’s highly doubtful that Steve Kerr’s men would have lost with a 1-4 scoreline in this second round. So their confidence is understandable.
Since the arrival of Jimmy Butler in February’s trade, things have changed for the Dubs. The roster is more confident, and with such a star, Curry finds a certain freedom on the court to score and make the difference. Nevertheless, a reinforcement wouldn’t be out of place this summer, especially considering the Western Conference.
Who will the Warriors recruit this summer?
Almost every franchise could be aiming to win in 2026 in the West, which says a lot about the difficulty of this conference. Having a good roster isn’t necessarily enough, so if the Warriors want to add another player, it wouldn’t be a bad idea. And maybe the Celtics are the ones to look at.
It’s been known for a few weeks now that Golden State is looking for a pivot to add depth to its roster. The small ball could be a little less present for next season, and it’s Kristaps Porzingis who interests the organization. As a reminder, the Celtics are expected to make a clean sweep of their roster, according to reporters.
Because after a failure in the East and Jayson Tatum’s long injury ahead, Boston would like to change things up a bit. The Warriors could use Porzingis to their advantage:
@GSWBallReport : “Per Jake Weinbach, The Warriors could emerge as a realistic suitor for Kristaps Porziņģis”
Not surprising, given Porzingis’ dominance with his size and ability to punish from long range. He could well suit the Dubs and add a new offensive threat to the roster. But for others, perhaps a slightly more defensive profile would be more interesting, despite the Latvian’s size. It’ll be up to Mike Dunleavy Jr. to find the best way forward.
