After yet another failure to reach the conference finals, the Wolves are likely to make a few moves in order to turn the corner. Trades and new players are expected, although the front office’s priority should be elsewhere.

By losing again in the conference finals, the Wolves may have realized that their roster needed a boost. Anthony Edwards remains up to scratch, but he clearly needs help if he aspires to win the championship one day. The front office is therefore expected to be on the ball, while Kevin Durant is beginning to be mentioned.

This doesn’t come as a total surprise, given that Minnesota already made a move for Durant at the February deadline. But the assets weren’t there and the player didn’t really want to leave in any case. It’ll be a different story this summer with a trade expected by all the specialists, even if Minnesota’s priority could be elsewhere this off-season.

Decision expected from Wolves regarding their roster

Bringing in new players to try and win the title is all well and good, but retaining successful players is also an excellent idea. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is on the market, as is Naz Reid, who is about to become a free agent. He should decline his player option, and from there, anything is possible for him.

The most dangerous thing for Minnesota is that Reid should quickly attract strong interest on the market. The player continues to perform well with his team, and with a role off the bench at present, it’s possible that the pivot is keen for a promotion… elsewhere. However, he remains a priority for the Wolves.

Despite some doubts, Reid is perhaps the Wolves’ number 1 priority before the official start of this off-season.

@GSWBallReport : “Per Mike Scotto, resigning Naz Reid is a priority for the Timberwolves this summer.”

Warriors and Spurs have been mentioned in recent weeks as possible suitors, but many other organizations will inquire of his agent if he does indeed become a free agent. Reid can look forward to a nice pay rise, even if his role could become important. And if the Wolves want to offer him a starting berth with this new status, they’ll have to make a choice with Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert.
