The Kevin Durant drama is still far from over, especially as the Suns still have a few weeks to find a replacement for the player. And one franchise, recently eliminated from the playoffs, could try its luck.

Will you go? Will he not? To date, insiders are unanimous regarding Kevin Durant’s future: he will be traded during the month of June and before the draft, with the Suns hoping to pick up a first-round pick in this year’s draft. Shams Charania confirms that this is the trend on ESPN, but also that negotiations have officially begun with suitors.

In other words, the Phoenix GM’s phone must be ringing off the hook at the moment, as he looks for the best possible consideration and raises the stakes. The Rockets, Wolves and Spurs are often mentioned as potential suitors, but beware of a possible surprise. We’re thinking of that team that just lost in the playoffs, for example.

A return to the East for Kevin Durant in 2026?

We’re talking about the Knicks, yes, who are taking stock of their roster today. Karl-Anthony Towns divides with his defense, while the front office wonders if the wing is a problem. Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby have disappointed at times, and perhaps a proven attacking player like Durant could help greatly.

And like Minnesota, we learn from Shams that the Knicks did make a bid for Durant at the deadline in February. Nothing confirmed at this stage, but it suggests that New York will try again this June. Jake Weinbach details two scenarios for this deal to be valid.

@JWeinbachNBA : “The Knicks made an offer for Kevin Durant at the trade deadline, per @ShamsCharania. In terms of financial possibilities, New York’s offer would have featured A) Karl-Anthony Towns or B) OG Anunoby + Mitchell Robinson.”

We don’t yet know the Knicks’ preference, but the second offer seems more logical to avoid losing too much in the racket. Whatever happens, New York has what it takes, and knowing that the Suns are looking for a center according to a few journalists, the offer makes sense. Watch out for a possible surprise in June.
