We still don’t know where Kevin Durant will be playing next season, but the Spurs are a destination that comes up a lot. And for good reason, even KD thinks he’ll end up there, according to a journalist…

The rumors continue for the Suns, who would ideally like to part company with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal this summer. A strong but not so surprising decision after the failure of their campaign. As a bonus, and with the NBA’s important new rules, keeping these players on long-term contracts is almost impossible without taking severe penalties.

Phoenix is looking for a way out, and it’s not the same situation. Beal is scaring the world with a disappointing level of play and a staggering salary (60 million), while Durant is being followed by numerous franchises at the moment. But that certainly doesn’t mean a deal will be easy to come by.

Kevin Durant at the Spurs this summer?

One important detail: Durant will be 37 in September, so some franchises aren’t exactly eager to drop big bucks on the star, no matter how talented he is. Wolves, Spurs, Knicks and even Rockets are linked to the player at the moment, but it’s San Antonio that could win the bid this June.

According to Shams Charania, the Spurs are serious about recruiting a true winger to take them to the next level next season. It’s not clear that Durant is the most obvious fit, given their situation in the West, but the Texans could attempt a nice offensive move with the necessary assets. And from the player’s point of view, finishing in San Antonio doesn’t seem to be a problem.

For his part, Durant clearly believes he will finish alongside Victor Wembanyama:

@TheDunkCentral: “According to John Gambadoro, Kevin Durant has explained to someone close to him whom he trusts that he thinks he’ll end up with the Spurs.”

It wouldn’t come as a total surprise after weeks of rumors, but the Spurs will need to come up with a great offense to close this deal. The franchise has the necessary means, but is KD really the solution to this team’s problems? That’s the logical question. Note that with Chris Paul’s departure almost a foregone conclusion after one season, an experienced player like the Slim Reaper wouldn’t be out of place.
