Pending departure for a few weeks now, Kevin Durant has been attracting interest across the NBA, with the Knicks even mentioned this week. So one media outlet suggested a trade to make it all happen this June.
The insiders are all saying the same thing at the moment: Kevin Durant will be traded by the Suns this June. It remains to be seen for what and to which franchise. Many teams are not against adding such a player, even if KD will be turning 37 in a few months. Inevitably, this also changes the game when it comes to negotiating.
Getting Durant back with a trade isn’t impossible, but no one really wants to drop a lot of assets in the package. The Suns may have to give up some demands, or perhaps the trade won’t see the light of day after all. At this stage, all scenarios are still on the table.
A suggestion in the Kevin Durant case
It’s hard to know much more, but we can assure you that interest exists in the NBA. The Spurs are regularly rumoured to have him, as are the Rockets and the Wolves. Lately, a new franchise has joined the party with the Knicks, recently eliminated by the Pacers. Inevitably, this could have consequences.
The New York team doesn’t think it’s far from winning the title, but to do so, it may need one last push from within the roster. Recruiting Durant is certainly an option, especially when you consider that the front office more than possesses the necessary assets. And media outlet Bovada thinks it’s the right move.
Two players and a first-rounder for Durant? That’s the suggested proposal for Durant to discover the other Big Apple franchise after the Nets:
- Knicks receive: Kevin Durant
- Suns receive: OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson and a 2027 first-rounder
It would be a pretty interesting move, but I’m not sure the Knicks would accept. By losing these two players, it’s their defense that takes a big hit, and many fans have already expressed their displeasure at this possible offer. KD remains an incredible player, but there’s no way many people would pay a crazy sum for a 37-year-old who’s not that far from retirement. It’s been said.
