Tyrese Haliburton, an exceptional playoff performer for Indiana, did it again in Game 1 of the NBA Finals with another game-winning shot. Enough to bring a Hall of Famer to his knees, comparing him to Allen Iverson.

Things move very quickly in the NBA; it’s a saying well known to anyone who follows basketball closely. And this year, no one embodies it better than Tyrese Haliburton. Just a few weeks ago, he was named the league’s most overrated player in a poll conducted by The Athletic. And the worst part is, the voters were none other than his peers…

An ugly public humiliation, to which the Pacers point guard responded in spectacular fashion. Not only did he return to the conference finals this season after already achieving that feat last year, but “Hali” went even further, as his franchise is currently playing in its first NBA Finals since 2000. It even took the lead after Game 1.

Facing a Thunder team that was the favorite on paper and led for almost the entire game, Indiana pocketed the victory thanks to a game-winning shot from… Haliburton, of course. This isn’t his first achievement, as he’s led a mind-boggling number of comebacks during these playoffs, but this one earned him huge praise from Dwyane Wade, who was watching the game:

Haliburton is a f*cking superstar. First of all, this is one of the greatest games I’ve watched as a fan. Haliburton is a f*cking superstar. Like, it ain’t no question no more. I don’t think you understand when you’re out of rhythm and you’re struggling…to take that shot, and to make that shot, he’s a cold m*therf*cker. Allen Iverson will call him, and probably say, you’re a cold m*therf*cker.

Everybody who’s played basketball, if you’ve ever picked up a basketball, you’ve always dreamed of hitting a game winner in the biggest game of your life. You just hit a game winner in the Finals. Game 1, on the road. I need his jersey, I’ll get it signed. He’s got that clutch gene.

As a reminder, Haliburton was only 5/12 on shooting before his game-winner. He wasn’t exactly red hot, but that didn’t stop him from shining at the best of times:
