Currently in China for training and a bit of sightseeing, Victor Wembanyama also had another project in mind. A 10-day “retreat” enabling him to do several things, and this is fascinating the web.
Away from the NBA world since February and his venous thrombosis, Victor Wembanyama has spoken to the media once since. He confirmed his desire to play in EuroBasket with Les Bleus in August and to rejoin the Spurs at training camp in September. Shams Charania confirmed that the second option is on track, while the first is still unknown.
Some players have been sidelined for up to 1 year with the same diagnosis. If Wemby is back in full health by September, ready to take on the Spurs, then we can already be very happy for the franchise and the Frenchman. For the time being, Wemby is stepping up his training sessions and discovering China. But he’s not here just for sightseeing.
Victor Wembanyama on a voyage of discovery in China
We learned this weekend that Wemby shaved his head before joining a temple for a 10-day retreat. The aim is simple: rigorous physical training, as well as enabling the Frenchman to discover a new culture. A fascinating subject for him, and this news should come as no surprise to anyone.
What will Victor learn? From this experience? No doubt he’ll be quizzed on the subject when he meets the media, but we can’t wait to find out more. For the time being, we can get a few photos of Wemby, who quietly continues to cut himself off from the world. Well, almost, considering these images.
Spurs Fam,Wemby has begun 10 days physical and mental training retreat, turning away all media interviews. The temple, aiming to protect his privacy, has restricted access to outsiders. But don’t worry, here’s the latest photo of him~I’ll keep post with any updates @spurs pic.twitter.com/iIA4gCGirM

A new experience for the Frenchman, who will no doubt have plenty to say on the subject on his return.
