Kevin Durant could well end up at the Spurs this June, but the quid pro quo is a matter of debate among fans. Some are asking for something big, while Texan fans are against it. In other words, negotiations could be complicated.

The Spurs are interested in Kevin Durant and vice versa. This information has been confirmed several times by Shams Charania, who explains that negotiations are taking place during the month of June, with a possible outcome before the draft. In particular, Phoenix would like a first-round pick to select a young player.

And for that to happen, an agreement must be reached with San Antonio before June 25. But remember, they’re not the only ones involved, as the Wolves and Rockets are also in the mix, while the Raptors can’t be ruled out, according to some sources. But for some, negotiations could prove difficult with the Spurs.

How much will the Spurs pay Kevin Durant?

According to a few sources, the first thing to know is that the Suns are greedy for Durant. Regardless of his contract or his age (37 in September), they’d like to get something in return for the star. And while the 14th pick in the draft could be a good starting point, some are asking for more.

One Suns fan account thinks the Spurs should send the second pick, or at least a quality point guard. After all, San Antonio will have plenty of post 1 with De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle and potentially Dylan Harper. So for the Suns, who wouldn’t say no to a true point guard, this is the perfect opportunity.

@PHXFansAZ : “The Spurs will have 3 PGs: Fox, Castle and Harper (No. 2 pick). If the Suns don’t demand one of them in a KD trade then it’s pure dereliction by Gregory and Ishbia. No PG, no deal.”

The Suns have every right to make this request, just as the Spurs have every right to refuse it. That’s the most likely scenario, given that Fox arrived a few months ago, Castle just won rookie of the year and Harper is considered a future NBA star. Durant’s arrival would be beneficial, but it’s not clear that San Antonio is prepared to do anything to make it happen. Not with a player just a few years away from retirement.
