Trades are being prepared by the Spurs, who are negotiating with the Suns over Kevin Durant. But while Devin Vassell is being considered for departure, Jeremy Sochan is also a possibility.

If the Spurs really want to have a chance of landing in the playoffs for 2026, especially in the West, the recruitment of a few players is a must. Victor Wembanyama was still pretty much on his own this campaign, although the arrival of De’Aaron Fox is a first step. What’s next? Recruit another star, such as Kevin Durant on the wing.

The former Warriors star is available, so the Suns have already begun negotiations with the Spurs… and other teams. Phoenix would like a good deal in exchange for the star, even if a trade for a 37-year-old player is always rather complex. The Spurs are therefore hoping to gain the upper hand.

A surprise player on his way out of Spurs?

On the bright side, San Antonio has more than enough to get Durant, but it remains to be seen whether the front office is prepared to make the necessary effort. Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson and the 14th pick are among the available assets, but for Evan Sidery, Jeremy Sochan’s name shouldn’t be totally ruled out.

Sochan, a solid defender, is nevertheless important for San Antonio. His problem is that he doesn’t have a real shot, especially when it comes to punishing three-pointers. And with Wemby needing to dominate in the paint, having shooters around him is a necessity. For Sidery, Sochan can therefore be considered a tradeable player.

@esidery : “In a potential Kevin Durant trade involving the Spurs, Jeremy Sochan will be a player to monitor. Sochan, who’s extension-eligible, could be an intriguing piece for the Suns to prioritize. A framework of Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes and Sochan for Durant works for both teams.”

Just a theory for now, but some fans will no doubt be against it. Sochan’s defense is too important at the moment, even if the Texan franchise absolutely needs real shooters if it hopes to compete in the playoffs next season. Kevin Durant, Cam Johnson and other players will be targets.
