In his second season on WNBA floors, Angel Reese continues to fuel discussion and divide opinion. In fact, the recent outing of a league legend led to the emergence of an unexpected debate involving… Rudy Gobert.
Promoted to star status as a rookie, she was never going to trade up as a sophomore. Angel Reese’s performances remain highly scrutinized in the WNBA and a source of constant comparison with those of her great rival, Caitlin Clark. However, this is not exactly to the taste of Candace Parker, who recently blasted this phenomenon to Jemele Hill for Spolitics:
Candace Parker: Comparing Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese is like comparing apples and oranges. What’s the point? It’s like comparing Magic (Johnson) to (Larry) Bird. I’m not going to go there. I think there are many areas where Angel Reese can improve. And as far as Caitlin is concerned, of course she can shoot from the logo, but she also makes her team better.
Angel Reese and Rudy Gobert, same battle? The debate rages on
Annoyed at seeing two young, talented players compared despite having virtually opposite profiles, Candace Parker refuses to follow this trend. Many Internet users shared her point of view, pointing out the differences between Clark and Reese. One of them dared to make other comparisons, this time involving NBA players:

While he may have thought he’d put everyone on the same page, this fan missed the point. In particular, the fact that he likened the Chicago Sky interior to Rudy Gobert was roundly castigated on X :

He too is the subject of intense criticism and ridicule in the NBA, but Gobert is nonetheless a far better basketball player than his WNBA counterpart, according to these Internet users. To put him in parallel with the latter would even represent a lack of respect in their eyes, which should once again get people talking.
