After a promising first season, Angel Reese is having a hard time keeping up with Chicago. The target of much mockery and criticism, she is also starting to be let down by some of her former teammates. She’s definitely going through a troubled period.
What a complicated season for Angel Reese… What was supposed to be a new chapter in her rivalry with Caitlin Clark is slowly but surely turning into a long ordeal. Not helped by a new coach who doesn’t necessarily put her at the heart of the system, the Chicago interior has seen her statistics drop considerably, as has her confidence.
She now averages just 9.1 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, compared with 13.6 and 13.1 in her first year in the WNBA. Elevated to superstar status, Reese is the target of much ridicule on social networks, particularly for her inability to make shots. While she takes the majority of her attempts under the basket, she only shot 30% on this 2025 exercise.

And the saddest thing about these times is that some people are even turning against Angel Reese. Flau’Jae Johnson, popular rapper and LSU player, won a college title with the interior, they formed a pretty incredible duo with the Tigers. But, as she just told The Breakfast Club, she no longer considers Reese a friend:
Angel Reese is no longer my friend, but no one can ever take away the bond between us, and especially our victory at March Madness. Sometimes things happen that you’d rather not have, but you have to grow up and move on. We’re no longer friends because I’ve seen things in the media, things have happened in the dressing room…
After winning the NCAA title together, Flau’Jae Johnson and Angel Reese seem to have gone their separate ways. The LSU player may defend her former teammate publicly and be proud of her WNBA achievements, but she can’t seem to get past certain disagreements. Today, they no longer even consider each other friends. It’s definitely a tough time for Reese.
