Regularly mentioned to the Spurs, Kevin Durant could land in Texas in the coming weeks. But beware of twists and turns, especially as one franchise is said to be ready to join the negotiations. And not just a little.
Given the latest rumors, insiders are confident that Kevin Durant will join the Spurs. The player is clearly interested in the franchise, and we can imagine that the prospect of playing with Victor Wembanyama would not be unpleasant. Sophomore or not, the Frenchman is already attracting a lot of attention in Texas, according to journalists.
The proof will no doubt be seen this summer and in the summers to come. Chris Paul came to San Antonio to do just that in 2024, and Durant could be next on the list. And with him, the Texans will be playoff contenders, and perhaps more so if Wemby continues his crazy rise. But be careful not to move too fast either.
Spurs in danger of losing Kevin Durant?
For the time being, and despite the rumors, KD is not a Spurs player. The interest is there, according to sources, but other franchises are hoping to convince the Suns and the player. The Raptors, Wolves and Rockets are mentioned, but the Heat could be in the mix. Rumor has it that Pat Riley is finally ready to shake up part of his squad.
And with Andrew Wiggins in particular, the Heat could make an interesting offer for KD this summer. We don’t know if the player is interested, but Zach Lowe confirms that the Floridian franchise is intrigued. The Spurs will have to be wary if they want to close this deal. We’ll know more before the draft.
@esidery : “The Heat will get involved in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, per @ZachLowe_NBA. Miami can build an appealing trade package for the Suns with Andrew Wiggins, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Duncan Robinson, and future first-round picks.”
Should we give up so many assets for a 37-year-old player? We imagine that Miami fans will soon have a debate on the subject. But for now, it’s clear that this episode is far from over. The Spurs are the favorites, but watch out for a surprise if a team makes an irresistible offer to the Suns. KD has no say in the matter.
