Regularly targeted by fans and former players alike, Karl-Anthony Towns has seen attacks on him reach shameful proportions. Kyrie Irving has decided to set the record straight about the superstar.
How should we judge Karl-Anthony Towns’ first season with the Knicks? Arriving shortly before the start of the 2024-25 campaign, the former Timberwolves big man established himself as a central figure on Tom Thibodeau’s team, averaging over 24 points and 12 rebounds, while shooting 42% from three-point range.
On top of that, New York went deep into the playoffs, reaching the conference finals, where the franchise suffered a crushing defeat against the Pacers. That’s when things started to go south… because ever since, the Big Purr has been the subject of constant criticism, particularly regarding his defense, including within his own team.

But that’s not all, as KAT is also being criticized for his physique, with Gilbert Arenas even declaring that he has a woman’s body. Between his unusual body shape and his on-court attitude, the former first-round draft pick is the subject of some rather shameful mockery. In Dallas, Kyrie Irving even chose to defend him:
Before I forget, y’all gotta stop making fun of my brother KAT. I’m done with y’all. It’s so unfair. I’m letting y’all know, if you repost that sh*t again, meme him up, I’m attacking. not like physically, but I’m attacking, alright? Y’all gotta leave KAT alone, okay? Cause y’all don’t know what it’s like to grow up in (New) Jersey and have all these cultures that you are a port of.
Trust me on that, Jersey is literally 130 miles long, it’s a very, very small state. But back to my point, I’m just saying, leave him alone, alright? Because he’s Dominican, he’s black, he grew up in a certain area in Jersey, just like me and you gotta survive out there. You have many different demographics of people, so you gotta survive out there.
I don’t agree all the time when he be changing up his tone sometimes, I don’t always agree on all of this sh*t, you know what I mean, that should be funny. But on a serious note, he is my brother and I will protect him all the time.
This is an opportunity to remind everyone that NBA stars are still human and deserve to be treated with dignity. Such attacks on Towns’s appearance and behavior are as shameful as they are unacceptable, as Uncle Drew puts it.
