Set to leave the Suns in the coming weeks, Kevin Durant is waiting to hear more about his future. The winger is said to have already made his choice behind the scenes, and that should please some Texans fans.
We don’t know exactly when, but Kevin Durant is likely to be traded this June. Various insiders have confirmed that the Suns have begun official negotiations with the competition, including the Spurs, Rockets and Wolves. But a team like the Raptors is also worth considering.
The deadline? Probably the NBA draft on June 25. The Suns would indeed like to pick up a first-round pick at this event, and it just so happens that the franchises mentioned have what it takes. We’re thinking of the Spurs with the 2nd and 14th picks, although the latter seems to be the only one available for a trade involving Durant.
Kevin Durant would have decided behind the scenes
After all, Durant will soon be 37, and that’s a detail that matters. So, of course, the Suns will want to pick up some nice assets for him, but it’s not certain that San Antonio will decide to give in to this soap opera. Especially as, behind the scenes, the player is said to have made up his mind about his future destination: it will be the Spurs…
Nothing confirmed at the moment, but one media outlet claims that Durant wants to join Victor Wembanyama in Texas. He doesn’t technically have a say in negotiations, but Phoenix has agreed to work with him on his future team. So, if he wants the Spurs, his managers will do their utmost to send him there.
@BASKETBALLonX : “A league source told Hoops Wire that Kevin Durant prefers the Phoenix Suns trade him to the San Antonio Spurs.”
Given the rumours of recent weeks, which have been very insistent most of the time, we can’t say that this is a real surprise. The player seems to be a fan of the organization and the possibility of playing with Wemby must undoubtedly weigh heavily. Confirmation may come in June, although the Suns will have the final say. Unlike Bradley Beal, Durant has no veto power.
