At just 23 years of age, playing in the NBA Finals as an indisputable starter is already quite an achievement. It’s hard to believe, however, that he’ll be satisfied. Chet Holmgren is aiming for just one thing: the first championship of his young career. But unfortunately for him, his team is in a pretty poor position after three matches.

The Thunder had the chance to take a major step forward in their series against the Pacers on Wednesday, with a win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. However, the opposite scenario unfolded, with a final victory for Indiana (107-116). With 20 points and 10 rebounds in the game, OKC’s young inside man still managed to add to his tally, without showing any clear dominance.

Chet Holmgren criticized in the US, Victor Wembanyama mentioned

Holmgren may have emerged from Game 3 with respectable statistics, but he was rather clumsy (6/15 shooting, 0/6 3-pointers). All this without having a big impact defensively, while the Pacers scored 50 points in Oklahoma City’s paint. That’s all it took for Internet users to start criticizing him again… and bring up comparisons with Victor Wembanyama:

@___Colb___: We keep comparing Chet to Wemby, but I’m not even sure he’s undoubtedly better than Evan Mobley.

For this X user, Chet doesn’t deserve to be put on an equal footing with Wembanyama… and not even with Evan Mobley. An opinion that quickly found followers on the platform:

@WizKayTV: Wait, are there really people who think Chet is better than Mobley?

@Joes_Picks: He’s not even close to Evan Mobley

@SP13V2: Don’t disrespect Ev, he made short work of (Myles) Turner

@lilrocketnasa: Chet isn’t even better than Porzingis right now

However, Holmgren can rest assured that he still has a few adoring fans ready to defend him on social networks, even in such unfavourable circumstances:

@TRAPJNR: Who puts him in the same discussion as Wemby? He’s not better than him. But he’s better than Mobley.

@CJsDiarry: Chet is definitely better than Wemby

@DucboyV2: By the way, Chet has spent months without being able to walk this season.
