Selected first overall in the 2025 draft, Paige Bueckers is off to a spectacular start to her WNBA career. While her runner-up, Dominique Malonga, is keeping a lower profile, the Dallas player is already being compared to Stephen Curry!

The WNBA has definitely seen some incredible players arrive in the last few months. In 2024, it was Caitlin Clark who arrived like a hurricane from Indiana, the point guard who allowed the women’s league to benefit from unprecedented hype thanks to her achievements. Not to mention other talented players in this draft such as Angel Reese or Cameron Brink, for example.

Now, with Clark currently out for some time and viewership plummeting (down 50% since the beginning of her absence), the WNBA can at least say that another women’s basketball phenomenon is taking to the court. Paige Bueckers, who was considered a prodigy at the college level, made her debut a few weeks ago after being drafted first overall.

Given her NCAA accomplishments, the player who was selected just ahead of Frenchwoman Dominique Malonga was highly anticipated, especially by Dallas fans who are looking for a new favorite after losing Luka Doncic last February. The least we can say is that Bueckers does not disappoint, having just scored 35 points in 37 minutes with 6 rebounds and 4 assists against Minnesota:

Such a performance while finishing with over 65% shooting success, is simply a new masterclass for the one who already averages over 17 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists for the Wings. All this with an absolutely indecent three-point skill, her success percentage well over 45%. For WNBA followers, her NBA equivalent is therefore easy to find:
